Details Page
Mystery Number "118":
During the disassembly process the number "118" has been found on various body parts.  The number "118"
is stamped into the underside of the dash, the dash mount bracket and the headliner bow. It is also on one of
the supports for the front seat partition.  Similar numbers have been found on other barndoor deluxes.
Engine No:
The original engine number
20-0807553 still powers the bus.
 The firing order 1-4-3-2 is
above.  Notice the small "2982"
below the Engine no.
Body Number:
The body number is stamped
into the partition behind the
passengers side of the front
seat.
VIN:
The vehicle identification
number is stamped into the
engine compartment sheet
metal.
Seat Tags:
Each of the seats has a
quality control tag, signed and
dated by the inspector. The
one shown here has a date of
3-June-54.
"29" Part Numbers:
Many of the parts are marked with the part number prefix "29" instead of the familiar "211".  Original parts to the
bus include the tail light housing, lug nuts, cargo door hardware, etc.  Here are a few examples with the "29"
series number.
Date Stamps:
Many of the parts are marked with the manufacturers date stamp.  Here are a few examples; the steering box is
marked 6/54, the speedometer cable nut is marked 5/54, the trim rings 2/54, sunroof hardware 5/54, etc.
Sheet metal markings:
After media blasting the body,
these manufacturers marks
were found on the sheet
metal.  This is on the front
seat partition.
Coupon Book:
This maintenance coupon book came with the
bus.  The first couple pages are missing but
the rest is still there.  I hope the warranty is still
valid!
License light lens:
The original plastic lens
marked Hella and K1424.
Varta Battery:
The OEM battery was manufactured by Varta.  The original
owners kept the warranty card and battery tag in the Varta
envelope.
Frese Reflectors:
There are reflectors located below the running lights in
the rear.  They are manufactured by Frese and marked
with the makers name, a squiggly line and the no. K1282
GHE dome lights:
The two dome lights are manufactured by GHE.  The
housing are Bakelite material with the interior painted a
reflective white.  Note the fiberboard gasket that is
mounted under the light.
Tool Kit:
This is the original tool kit that came with the bus.  I think all the
tools are correct for the kit with the exception of the small
screwdriver and wrench at the top of the photo.  The kit is made
from the same vinyl material used on the seats.!
